Commencement parking and directions

Plan your visit to NAU’s spring 2025 Commencement with helpful directions, parking information, and tips for getting around campus. Make your graduation day smooth and stress-free with everything you need to know before you arrive.

Commencement is a busy time on campus and we want your experience to run smoothly. Discover everything you need to know about how to get here and where to park.

Commencement parking

Parking will be available at multiple locations across campus with free shuttle service to and from designated parking lots. Visit the Parking page for maps and shuttle routes. Early arrival is key to finding good parking and seating. Doors to the Skydome open 90 minutes prior to each commencement ceremony.

Directions to NAU

Approaching from I-40 westbound (from Albuquerque)

Take Exit 198 to Butler Avenue and turn right on Butler.

  • To park and catch a shuttle to the Skydome (recommended): Turn left on San Francisco St. and park in P96B (San Francisco Parking Garage).
  • For ADA and park and walk lots: Turn left from Butler Ave. onto Lone Tree Rd., then turn right on Pine Knoll Dr. and follow signs for ADA and park and walk parking.

Approaching from I-40 eastbound (from Los Angeles and Kingman)

Take Exit 191 for Route 66 (business route) and follow Route 66 to Milton Rd.

Turn left on Milton Rd., then right on Butler Ave.

  • To park and catch a shuttle to the Skydome (recommended): Turn right from Butler Ave. onto San Francisco St. and park in P96B.
  • For ADA and park and walk lots: Turn right from Butler Ave. onto Lone Tree Rd., then right on Pine Knoll Dr. and follow the signs.

Approaching from I-17 northbound (from Phoenix)

Take I-17 North until it ends in Flagstaff.

  • For ADA and park and walk lots: Take Exit 339 to Lake Mary Rd., turn right on Lake Mary, then left on J.W. Powell. Turn left on Lone Tree Rd., then left on Pine Knoll Dr. and follow the signs.
  • To park and catch a shuttle to the Skydome: Take Exit 341 to McConnell Dr., turn right on Pine Knoll Dr., then right into the parking lot.
