Learning and study spaces

The Cline Library offers a variety of study, learning, and creation spaces to support your academic and creative needs.

The library has a space for whatever you’re working on. With study rooms, high-tech classrooms, and hands-on creation spaces, there’s always a way to learn, explore, and create.

Study spaces

There are spaces for both quiet and group study, including Zoom cubicles. You’ll find seating, high-speed internet, and resources like laptops, chargers, and cables available to borrow. It’s the place to meet, study, and get work done.

Study rooms are available by reservation for NAU and CCC students:

  • Individual study rooms
  • Group study rooms
  • Professional/interview rooms
  • Graduate study rooms

In addition, the Cline Library offers walk-in study spaces:

Learning spaces

Our learning spaces include a 400-seat Assembly Hall, which serves as a versatile venue for both classes and special events.

The Learning Studio

The Learning Studio (Room 249) is a highly configurable, advanced technology room designed to support student-centric learning. The studio offers an array of technologies controlled with an easy-to-use interface. Features include seating and laptops for 70 students, an 85” 4K display plus two projection screens, fixed and mobile tables for flexible group work, writable glass, videoconferencing, and support for personal devices.

Creation spaces

Our creation spaces are designed to support learning, creativity, and collaboration for students and the NAU community. Whether you’re working on an academic project or a personal passion, you’ll find the tools and technology you need to bring your ideas to life.

The MakerLab

The MakerLab is a multidisciplinary space designed for exploration, creation, and collaboration. The innovative lab offers students, faculty, staff, and community members a place to engage with hands-on projects that inspire and solve real-world challenges.

The lab has various tools, including 3D printers and a Glowforge station, and provides services such as project consultations and open workshops to help bring creative ideas to life. The lab is open during regular library hours.

Virtual Reality Studio

The library’s Virtual Reality Studio has three VR stations with plenty of fun, creative, and educational apps to try. It’s a great place to explore, learn, and play. Whether you’re traveling the globe, making art, or just having fun with a game, the VR Studio offers a chance to experience something completely different. It’s a great space to spark your imagination and try something new.

Production Studios

The library has three production studios where you can easily create and work on your multimedia projects. If you’re recording a podcast, voiceover, or editing video, these spaces have everything you need. With easy-to-use software, they’re great for anyone, no matter if you’re just starting out or have experience.

One Button Studio

One Button Studio is a simplified video recording space that can be used without any previous recording experience. The design of the studio allows you to create high-quality videos without having to know anything about lights or cameras; all you need is a flash drive!

Photography Studio

The Photography Studio provides you everything you need to take great photos with lighting and equipment setup. The studio is perfect for working alone or with a group of up to 8 people. You can create portraits or still-life shots, and if you need additional gear, you can check out equipment from the Ask Us! desk.
