Important dates and admissions deadlines
No matter your student type, NAU makes it easy to find the dates and deadlines you need. Stay on track with your application and be ready to start your journey.
Most of the dates and deadlines listed on this page are relevant to the upcoming semesters: Fall 2025 and Spring 2026.
Classes begin on August 25 for the Fall 2025 semester and on January 12 for the Spring 2026 semester.
Undergraduate, transfer (undergraduate level), and non-degree seeking students should make note of the dates in the table below. The following deadlines apply to all three groups of students.
Different deadlines may apply based on your location, academic program, previous education, or military status. Be sure to scroll past the Undergraduate students section for important dates and admission deadlines relevant to graduate, transfer (graduate level), international, online, and military students.

Apply to NAU
NAU offers rolling admission for most undergraduate programs, so you can apply anytime. Have questions about a program or your timeline? We’re here to help. Get in touch with Admissions if you have questions regarding applications or about a specific program.
Pay enrollment fee
To reserve your spot at NAU and access campus housing, you’ll need to pay your enrollment fee by the following date:
- May 1 (fall deadline)
- Students can apply and pay after May 1, but earlier is better. Enrollment fees become non-refundable after June 1.
- December 1 (spring deadline)
Enrollment fee amounts depend on your application type. Here's what to expect:
- First-year students will owe $325.
- Transfer students will owe $250.
- Graduate students enrollment fees vary by program. View graduate program fees by college to find your enrollment fee amount.

Other important academic dates
- 2025-2026 academic year
- August 16, 2025: First disbursement of scholarships and financial
- August 18, 2025: Tuition due
- August 25, 2025: Classes begin
- September 4, 2025: Last day to drop with 100% tuition refund
- December 1-5, 2025: Last week of instruction
- December 4-16, 2025: Submission of final grades
- December 8-11, 2025: Finals week
- December 12, 2025: Last day of semester and Commencement

Graduate students
Deadlines vary by program. Visit the graduate admissions deadlines page for details by program.
Transfer students
You’re a transfer student if you meet one or all our transfer student requirements:
- You earned Master's degree credits within a six-year period, or graduate certificate credits within an eight-year period. (graduate transfer student)
- You've earned 9 units of transfer credit toward a degree of 30 to 36 units.
- You've earned 12 units of transfer credit toward a degree of 37 to 48 units.
- You've earned 15 units of transfer credit toward a degree of 49 or more units.
