Commencement parking and directions

Graduation day brings excitement and a full campus. Use this guide to help plan your arrival and make parking and navigation as smooth as possible.

Parking on Commencement Day

Free parking will be available in several lots across campus, with shuttle service to and from the Skydome. To ensure the best parking and seating, we recommend arriving early. Doors open 90 minutes before each commencement ceremony. For maps and shuttle routes, check the Parking page.

Directions to NAU

From I-40 westbound (Albuquerque)

  • Take exit 201 to Country Club Drive and turn right toward Route 66.
  • Follow Route 66 west to Butler Ave., then turn left on Butler.

Shuttle parking (recommended): Turn left from Butler Ave. onto San Francisco St. and park in 96B – San Francisco Parking Garage.

From I-40 eastbound (Los Angeles and Kingman)

  • Take exit 191 for Route 66 (business route) and follow it to Milton Rd.
  • Turn left on Milton Rd., then right on Butler Ave.

Shuttle parking (recommended): Turn right from Butler Ave. onto San Francisco St. and park in 96B – San Francisco Parking Garage.

From I-17 northbound (Phoenix)

I-17 ends in Flagstaff.

For ADA/accessible parking:

  • Take exit 339 (Lake Mary Rd.) and turn right.
  • Turn left on J.W. Powell Blvd. and continue to Lone Tree Rd.
  • Turn left on Lone Tree, then left on Pine Knoll Dr. to enter campus.
  • Follow signs to ADA parking.

For park and walk options:

  • Take exit 339 (Lake Mary Rd.) and turn right.
  • Turn left on J.W. Powell Blvd. and continue to Lone Tree Rd.
  • Turn left on Lone Tree, then left on Pine Knoll Dr. to enter campus.
  • Follow signs to general parking.

For shuttle parking (recommended):

  • Take exit 341 to McConnell Dr. and follow cones/signs to lot P62.
  • If traffic is backed up on the ramp, continue north to University Dr.
  • Turn right on University Dr. and follow signs to 96B – San Francisco Parking Garage for shuttle service.
