Arizona Promise Program

The Arizona Promise Program helps eligible first-year Arizona students attend NAU tuition-free, covering any remaining tuition and fees after other aid is applied. It's one more way we’re expanding access to higher education.

Who qualifies for the Arizona Promise Program?

To receive this state-funded scholarship, you must:

  • Be a resident of Arizona.
  • Apply and be admitted to NAU as a degree-seeking, first-year student by May 1.
  • Attend classes at NAU Flagstaff campus.
  • File your FAFSA by the April 1 priority deadline.
  • Enroll full-time (12+ credits per semester).
  • Qualify for the Federal Pell Grant (based on your FAFSA).

What does it cover?

If you're eligible, the Arizona Promise Program bridges the gap between your other financial aid and the full cost of tuition, mandatory university fees, and college/program fees. It’s a big step toward making college affordable for more Arizona students.

What do I need to do to keep my award?

You can receive this award for up to eight consecutive semesters as long as you complete your FAFSA by April 1 each year and remain eligible for the Federal Pell Grant (based on your FAFSA).

Heads up: The Arizona Promise Program covers tuition and required fees only. It doesn’t cover housing, meal plans, or other expenses (but you may be able to combine it with other scholarships or grants to help with those costs!).
