NAU observes designated holidays and scheduled campus closures each year. During these periods, many university services pause or operate on reduced schedules. Use the calendar below to plan ahead for travel, university deadlines, and personal time off.
2025 holiday and closure schedule

- Martin Luther King Jr. Day – Monday, January 20
- Spring Break – Monday, March 10–Friday, March 14
- Memorial Day – Monday, May 26
- Juneteenth – Thursday, June 19
- Independence Day – Friday, July 4
- Labor Day – Monday, September 1
- Veterans Day – Tuesday, November 11
- Thanksgiving break – Thursday, November 27–Friday, November 28
- Winter break – Monday, December 22, 2025–Friday, January 2, 2026
2026 holiday and closure schedule

What to expect during closures
When campus is officially closed, many university departments and services are paused or operating with limited hours:
- Campus offices and departments: Closed
- Student services (advising, financial aid, admissions): Unavailable
- Dining and recreation centers: Limited or special hours
- Campus tours and events: Typically not scheduled
- Emergency services: Available 24/7 through the NAU Police Department
Winter break closure dates are confirmed annually by the Office of the President.
Emergency and weather-related closures
In extreme weather or emergency situations, NAU may issue additional closures. These are shared through official channels such as NAU email, website banners, and text alerts.
