Steps post-acceptance: first year student

You’re in! Congrats! Now it’s time to secure your spot and get ready for life as a Lumberjack. This step-by-step post-acceptance checklist will help you stay on track and feel confident as you prepare for your first semester at NAU.

Welcome to NAU, Lumberjack!

You’ve been accepted! Now let’s get everything lined up so you can start your NAU journey strong. Follow these steps to officially join the Lumberjack family.

1.  Lock in your spot

Accept your offer and pay your enrollment fee ($325) to secure your spot. Once processed (usually within one business day), you’ll be able to apply for housing.

For students starting in the fall, enrollment fees are due by May 1 and non-refundable after June.

For students starting in the spring, enrollment fees are due by December 1.

2. Submit your FAFSA

If you haven’t already, complete your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to unlock financial aid, scholarships, and grant opportunities. Use NAU code 001082.

3. Apply for on-campus housing

Want to live in the heart of campus? After paying your enrollment fee, you can apply for housing and get access to our living communities (early applicants get first dibs on hall preferences!).

4. Don't miss out on scholarships

Explore scholarships through ScholarshipUniverse and complete your application(s) by April 15. It’s one of the best ways to reduce your college costs.

5. Complete priority enrollment and academic advising

Priority Enrollment helps you get academic advising and register early for classes. It’s optional but highly recommended as it sets you up for success from the start.

6. Apply to the Honors College (optional)

If you’re aiming for an enriched academic experience, consider applying to the Honors College. Applications open in September and are reviewed on a rolling basis.

7. Submit your final transcripts

Ask your high school to send your final, official transcripts by July 1 if you're starting classes in the fall, or by January 5 if you're starting classes in the spring.

Send all official transcripts to:

Northern Arizona University
Admissions and Enrollment Services
PO Box 4084
Flagstaff, AZ 86011-4084

8. Upload important documents

Upload your ID photo and immunization records in LOUIE. These are required for Flagstaff campus students. Visit Health and Wellness to review what you need and how to submit.
