Applying with other applications
Not all college journeys look the same. Whether you’re returning, exploring, or taking a few classes on your own terms, there’s an application option that fits your journey.

First-year online
Want the flexibility to learn from anywhere? With NAU Online, you can earn your degree with structured, semester-based courses and pay by the credit hour on a schedule that works for you.
Non-degree seeking
Whether you’re exploring a personal interest or not quite ready to commit to a full degree program, NAU welcomes non-degree-seeking students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, no transcripts or test scores required.
Certificates
Undergraduate certificates
Enhance your skills with an undergraduate certificate. These focused programs are a great way to stand out and build expertise in your field.
Graduate certificates
To advance your career with a graduate certificate, you’ll need to apply through NAU’s Office of Graduate and Professional Studies.
Post-baccalaureate
If you already hold a bachelor’s degree and are ready to earn a second one, apply as a post-baccalaureate student. It’s a great way to explore a new field or prepare for grad school.
You’ll need to be ready to pay a $40 non-refundable application fee and provide us with official transcripts from all previous colleges or universities you've attended.
Readmission
If it’s been a while since you last enrolled in classes, you may be eligible to apply for readmission as an undergraduate student. (The application for readmission is for undergraduates only.)
Apply for readmission if you:
- previously attended NAU as a degree-seeking student and have missed three or more consecutive terms
- already earned a bachelor’s at NAU and want to take more classes or earn another degree
High school concurrent
Concurrent enrollment lets high-achieving high school students take academic courses at NAU. To qualify, you must have completed grade 11 and hold a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
For more information and to get started with your application process, ask your high school counselor or contact Admissions at 928-523-5511 or admissions@nau.edu.
For acceptance as a concurrent enrollment student, University Admissions must receive your application and materials by July 1 for the fall semester, by Dec. 1 for the spring semester, or by May 1 for the summer term.
