Engineering at NAU
Learning that goes beyond the classroom
At SCE, engineering is hands-on from the start. You’ll learn by building, testing, and improving, compete on student teams, and tackle real-world challenges in capstone design courses. Many of our teams win national recognition, often beating out much larger schools.
With class sizes that average 25 to 30 students, you’ll work closely with peers and professors, gaining insight, feedback, and mentorship in real time as you go. You won’t just study concepts, you’ll apply them.
Where your SCE degree can take you
SCE graduates land jobs at top companies like Boeing, Apple, Raytheon, and Honeywell. From day one, you’ll build technical skills and develop the collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking today’s employers expect. And if you want to dive deeper? You can. Undergraduate students get access to meaningful research experiences, something that sets NAU apart. With programs like environmental engineering (the first of its kind in Arizona), robotics, and advanced technology tracks, SCE is built for innovators ready to lead the future of engineering.
Faculty fueling innovation and impact
At SCE, you'll learn from expert faculty who are as passionate about cutting-edge research as they are about teaching it. Whether you’re in the lab or collaborating with industry professionals, our professors are here to guide you with real-world experience and one-on-one support. Meet the minds helping you engineer what’s next.

NAU’s civil engineering program is very practice based. Their whole mantra is creating practice ready engineers. I think our professors have a lot of industry experience and I think that really shines through in our curriculum and then in what students go and do after they graduate.

Ready to apply?
Whether you’re just exploring or already set on joining the Steve Sanghi College of Engineering, we’re here to help. From your first question to your first day, our team is ready to support you every step of the way.

Support future engineers
Your gift helps future engineers turn ideas into action. Donations to SCE support student design projects, scholarships, lab upgrades, and hands-on learning opportunities that define the SCE experience. Every contribution helps us build a stronger future—one student at a time.
