Build a meaningful career helping others

At NAU’s College of Health and Human Services (CHHS), we start with what drives you. If you’ve felt the pull to serve your community or support someone through a health challenge, you already know what it means to care. We’ll help you turn that into a career. Whether you see yourself in physical therapy, public health, speech-language pathology, or you're still exploring, we offer online, hybrid, and statewide in-person programs to help you move forward, wherever you are.

Learn by doing from day one

At CHHS, your education goes beyond the classroom. You’ll work in labs, clinics, and team-based settings that reflect real healthcare environments. Through interprofessional collaboration, early clinical experiences, and community outreach, you’ll develop the confidence and skills employers look for. When you graduate, you’ll be ready for a career that’s rewarding, in demand, and focused on what matters most: improving lives.

Faculty trusted by the community

At CHHS, you’ll learn from faculty whose names carry weight, in the classroom and in the community. These experienced professionals are recognized for their expertise and trusted by local healthcare and service leaders. Meet the faculty who’ll help you grow into a confident, capable professional.

Doctor of Physical Therapy, Sara Thomasson adjusts the settings of a hospital machine.

We’re a competency-based education program, so we’re a little bit different than all of the other programs right now. We practice scenarios with each other. Someone plays the patient, another plays the therapist. We practice what we’ll be actually doing as professionals. Also, the faculty is super incredible.
